Solar Eclipse at St. Mary's

Friday 20th March 2015
Despite some gloomy weather predictions, Melrose was treated to an uninterrupted view of the solar eclipse on Friday morning. From St Mary’s the eclipse was spectacular, with all pupils from Lower Transition to Form 8 (and staff!) able to view it directly and safely using special eclipse glasses. Chef’s giant colander also made an excellent impromptu pinhole camera producing multiple copies of the Sun. It was a fantastic way to end the term and an experience that I am sure everyone who saw it will remember for a long time to come.
