Art and Craft at St Mary's
At St Mary's pupils undertake a balanced programme of art, craft and design activities which builds on previous work and takes account of previous achievement.
From pre-prep to senior school, and at scholarship level they are encouraged to:
- work individually, in groups, and as a whole class
- work in two and three dimensions and on a variety of scales
- when needed be able to evaluate their own and each others work.
In the prep school pupils learn to understand and appreciate art in a variety of genres and styles, from a variety of cultures, western and non-western, often linked to form topics and individual interests.
The art room is in constant use and is a happy, relaxed yet busy area of the school used by Kindergarten to scholar students for activities and further study in a variety of media.
