Junior Cross Country

Thursday saw our annual outing to the Longridge Towers Junior Cross-Country race; as in previous years it was perishing cold but this year’s athletes also had hail to contend with! With nine schools and over 120 children running we knew that the competition would be rife. For the first time we took a team from Upper Transition (Y2) ,they took off first and much to our delight the three boys ,Will, Tommy and Jack came back smiling with Will and Tommy having finished in the top ten.

Murray, Rudi and Cecilia ran next, their route being slightly longer. With loud cheers and much encouragement from the St. Mary’s supporters we were thrilled to see Cecilia sprint in as first placed girl way ahead of her opposition, Murray was 7th and Rudi the middle of the pack but still wearing his trademark grin!

The toughest race came last; Form 4 had a mile loop to do and were faced with an extra hill. Best placed runners were George Godfrey-Faussett-4th, Adam Leighton 7th and Lucy Redmond 7th. Hearty congratulations to Samuel, Jacob, James Co and Harry who also gave it their all!

A fantastic effort from every one of you-Well done!
